In 2008, Association “Pravnik” organized a 10- day summer school named “International Summer School Sarajevo 2008: Rule of Law in Theory and Practice”, this time in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung- Rule of Law Program South East Europe.
BACKGROUND
South-Eastern Europe countries are transitional, post-conflict and new democracies which have been facing gaps in the rule of law system. The transition process always foresees big changes in every legal system that asks for results in the effectiveness and efficiency in the aspect of Rule of Law. “Pravnik” had the opportunity to bring together academics from various Universities and highly respected institutions from Europe and 20 scholars from the SEE region and 14 scholars from Universities worldwide to work together on issues of rule of law as it is seen in theory in order to make practical recommendations and to influence changes in new democracies.
The Summer School hosted 34 graduate and doctoral law and political science students, with a small number of undergraduate students. The project again engaged students from the European Union and South East Europe providing them with an overview of rule of law from different perspectives.
